In this procedure, a laser is used to improve the appearance of the skin, scars caused by acne, sun-damaged skin, injuries, chickenpox or treat minor facial flaws. This treatment also diminishes the fine lines around the mouth, eyes and cheeks. It can treat loss of skin tone and improve skin complexion. The treatment also works on the loss of skin tone and improves complexion.

During the procedure, an intense beam of light energy is focused on the skin. The outer layer called the epidermis is destroyed. At the same time, underlying skin is heated by the laser which shrinks the collagen fibers.

Depending on the type of technique and area size the normal time taken is 2 hours to 30 minutes. Intravenous or Local sedation is used. There is no major side effect. Only swelling, acne, redness, Itching, changes in skin color, infection, lower eyelids turning outward (ectropion), scarring, mild swelling, and redness.

After the treatment, it is important to avoid unprotected sun exposure. During the recovery process, one should clean the treated area with saline, water, or acetic acid and apply thick and protective ointments. Hard activities can be resumed after one or two weeks. To hide any of the redness, cosmetics can be used.
