It is a small growth anywhere on the body with a rough texture. It can look like a small cauliflower or a solid blister.

These occur due to viruses in the human papillomavirus (HPV) family. The appearance is mainly dependent on the thickness of the skin and its location on the body. Palmar warts occur on the hand, or affect feet. It is also more likely to happen in people with weak immune systems.

There are different types of viruses on the skin:

• Flat warts may grow on the face, legs and other parts of the body and these are often in large numbers.
• Plantar warts are on the sole of the foot.
• Filiform warts have a long stalk-like structure attached to the skin.
• Periungual warts are warts around the nails.
